WSB Supports Indian River Football Team Learn More

Kevin Chant, Watertown Savings Bank, presents a plaque along with a check to Jay Brown, Indian River Central High School Athletic Director, and Cory Marsell, Indian River Varsity Football Head Coach in recognition of the Warrior’s Section III Football Championship and in support of obtaining NYS Championship rings for the members of the football team.

Ed Beerman Scholarship Award Learn More

Watertown Savings Bank provided the funds for the Ed Beerman Jr. Community Service Scholarship Award at Thousand Islands Central School.  

The Scholarship was awarded to Cayla Mussot and Ashley Howard (not pictured) with each student receiving $500. 

Cayla Mussot is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Mussot, Cape Vincent Cayla attends Broome College with a career focus on radiology.   Ashley Howard is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Howard, Clayton.  Ashley attends Elon University. 


Watertown Savings Bank sponsors this scholarship each year as Mr. Beerman always felt that a student’s contribution to their community through service was an essential quality for our youth.

WSB Supports Six Town Community Fund

The fund benefits the towns of Adams, Henderson, Ellisburg, Lorraine, Worth and Rodman.  The Six Town Community Fund was established in 2013 and is the first of its kind in Jefferson County.

Jeremy Powell presents a donation in support of the Garrett W. Loomis Fund.The Northern New York Community Foundation established The Garrett Loomis Firefighters Fund to honor Sackets Harbor Fire Department Assistant Chief Garrett W. Loomis, who lost his life in 2010 from injuries sustained while fighting a silo fire in the town of Hounsfield.  The Fund provides grants to assist fire departments in obtaining training needed to address the unique requirements that agricultural related emergencies present.

The Purple Heart Scholarship Fund was established for service members who have been awarded the Purple Heart, and their immediate family members (spouse or child). Funds for this permanent endowment are raised each year by the Watertown Rotary club and managed by the Northern New York Community Foundation.

Mark Lavarnway, President and CEO of WSB, presents a check to retired Col. Mike Plummer, President of the National Association of the 10th Mountain Division at Ft. Drum, for the North Country Honors the Mountain project.  The City of Watertown has donated a location for the 10th Mountain Division to erect a monument: Tower Square in Thompson Park. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the reactivation of the 10th Mountain Division and the 70th anniversary of the Division’s victory in Italy during the Second World War. The North Country honors the sacrifice and service of the 10th Mountain Division Soldiers, their family members and the Fort Drum Civilian Workforce. The monument will be unveiled in July 2016. Mark Lavarnway, President & CEO of WSB, presents a check to Leslie Robare, Director of the 18.12 Challenge, for sponsorship of the 18.12 Challenge and half Marathon.  To commemorate the war of 1812 and to honor Fort Drum’s 10th Mountain Division, the 18.12 mile challenge and half marathon will begin in Watertown and end on the historic 1812 battleground in Sackets Harbor overlooking Lake Ontario.  Race day is Sunday, August 30 at 7am.

Congratulations to Emily Medley and David Van Eenenaam.  They are 2014 graduates of Watertown High School and the recipients of the Watertown Savings Bank Cup Award Scholarship.  Emily will be attending Utica College this fall where she will begin her path to a degree in Occupational Therapy while David will attend Wake Forest where he will be majoring in Bio Chemistry.  The Watertown Savings Bank Cup Award Scholarship is presented every year through the NNY Community Foundation.

WSB Ralph F. Brouty Scholarship Award Winners Learn More

The 2015 Ralph F. Brouty Watertown Savings Bank Scholarship was awarded to second year recipient, Kassandra Davis and first year recipient Lyndsey Young.  Kassandra will be a sophomore at JCC this fall majoring in Business Administration with the goal of becoming a CPA.  Lyndsey is working as a lifeguard this summer and will be majoring in business as a freshman at JCC this fall.  The Ralph F. Brouty Watertown Savings Bank Scholarship is funded by Watertown Savings Bank and administered through The Northern New York Community Foundation.  Congratulations to Kassandra and Lyndsey.

WSB Gives Scholarship to Two South Jeff Students Learn More

Rockett Stockwell, Branch Manager of WSB in Adams, presents scholarship checks to Halei Loya and Alexander Fee.  Both students are 2015 graduates of South Jefferson High School.  Halei will be attending JCC this fall to pursue a degree in accounting whil Alexander will attend Heidelberg University in Tiffin OH with double majors Business Administration and Political Science.  We wish them both the best of luck.


WSB Is Largest Contributor At United Way Food Drive Learn More

WSB employees pose for a picture in front of a truck filled with food at the 2015 United Way Community Food Drive.  The employees of WSB raised $9,000.00 to be donated to the Food Drive along with a $1,000.00 donation from NYSCOPA.  Employees of the Watertown Price Chopper who contributed over $2,500.00 worth of cereal.

Katherine Stackel, Head Coach - Copenhagen Girls Soccer, accepts a check from, Watertown Savings Bank’s, Lisa Freeman to be used for the Championship rings which will be purchased and presented to the Copenhagen High School Girls Soccer team for their victory in the New York State Class D Girls Soccer Championship. 

Copenhagen won the State title with a 2-0 score over Wheatland-Chili at SUNY Cortland on November 15.  Both goals were scored by Coach Stackel’s daughter, Claire.
